Drum roll, please ... We are especially inspired to design today because we were just invited to exhibit our jewelry at the Susan G. Komen Pink Promise Conference here in KC, March 25! This event is near and dear to my heart, and I am so excited to start designing. One of my best friends attends this emotional and inspiring event every year and she encouraged me several years ago to exhibit our jewelry here. I love that she planted that seed … and it grew … and now it’s happening!
Chris found this new treasure for our jewelry library, Smithsonian Rock and Gem. It’s almost as good as being at the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show. (Or, at least I am almost as giddy reading it as I am just being at the Tucson Gem Show, plus the added bonus of the comfort of my own couch and 3 furry snuggle assistants). Usually Jax is the one all up in my photos, and this week Ditto really wants attention – I love it! Here he is doing Downward Dog Pose and sniffing our new book, (his cute tail up in the air is unfortunately outside of my shot!). We're excited Ditto is a part of today's announcement.
With a specific gemstone in mind, I go to the 360-page book wondering how in the world I will find it … and I open right to the page! I like to take stuff like this as a sign that I’m on the right track, (being a skeptic is not nearly as much fun). Take a look at these two pages, can you guess which gemstone is influencing my designs today? Luckily, we have a lot of it in interesting shapes from Tucson, and I was saving these beads for a special occasion. Now I have the occasion, I'm inspired by the strength and courage of so many dear friends and amazing women whose lives and their loved ones are impacted by cancer, and I am super motivated to create. If you've figured out which gemstone, feel connected to this news of ours, or have inspiration you'd like to share with us, I hope you will leave a comment, e-mail me or send me a Facebook message. Chris and I would love to hear from you!
